Meditations (Web)Church

A year (and a bit) in the life of NewSpring's first Web pastor

A church expression for all seasons

with 3 comments

Some have given up on the traditional form of church altogether. And they are in serious pursuit of an expression of church that provides authentic community centered on Jesus Christ. But they cannot find such an expression in their city.

All of these people love the Lord and they love the Body of Christ, but they feel quite alone. And spiritually, they are dry and empty.

In short, they are experiencing the wilderness. — Frank Viola, Are you in the Wilderness?

That’s why i think all churches eventually will be Web Campuses.

  1. erm… you are sounding dangerously like we are going to become computer zombies here Nick… A true church is focused around loving each other in authentic community, what I call real friendship fellowship… sure the internet is awesome for creating and growing relationships… but for me I miss something when I can’t just hang out with someone or give them a hug or sit and watch my friends Jam (I am not musical)… My church would be whenever my christian friends appear at my door… A sunday service might be on the web… but my church won’t be.

    • not advocating computer zombie-dom. i just think that the opportunity for
authentic community will be opened up and furthered by the net in the future
more than physical connections …. i love the challenge tho.

      • I still think that face to face fellowship is required for accountability… and really knowledge of each other
